The 3 entries I wanted to discuss were Creative Disruption, Debt Strike, and the Jedi Mind Trick.
I looked through a lot of the site and these were the three that caught my eye and got me excited. First, the Jedi Mind Trick I thought was super interesting because it's something you see in movies all the time is the protagonist sneaking their way into something using a confident voice/body posture (Rihanna in Ocean's 8) to lay low but accessing the reality of people's assumptions and utilizing the unseen unspoken expectations people have in order to infiltrate is a really inspiring idea. there's a part of me that remains unsure about the tactic though, It very much depends on you and the situation you're facing, and I imagine spaces filled with hateful people who want to cause harm to minorities would be difficult to infiltrate if you were the subject of that hate, regardless of how confident you may be entering the situation, although an answer to that is Ron Stallworth, a black cop who, using a fellow officer who was white, infiltrated the KKK in 1979. It is a tactic that speaks to me as a white person as something I could utilize, entering spaces of hateful people that look like me in order to disrupt their inner workings.
Debt Strike was the really exciting one, especially working with something like the Occupy Student Debt Campaign working towards putting pressure on banks to renegotiate instead of just giving them ludicrous amounts of money that keep rising and rising. The hard part would be timing out and coordinating a large enough group that it would be a blow to the bank, because I wouldn't want anyone involved to be financially hurt more than they are but just having to pay these unfair bills. Especially attacking things like Student Debt could make enough of an impact to continue to change the cost of education entirely in this country, even applying a debt strike to the school itself, continuing to go to class but as a group refuse to pay tuition for that year of school. It seems like it could be an extremely powerful way to make a statement since money has such power in our current society.
The creative disruption like the glitter bomb i just thought was really cool since there are so many forms it can take, be it song or theatre or humor. really thinking about a creative way to use your free speech in order to combat with what your target is saying without allowing them to claim you are removing their free speech for them or are censoring them.
