Reflection - Ten Key Takeaways - Jillian A Lindner

My ten Key Takeaways from this class (so far) would be:

  1. Active art talks but passive art talks just as loud sometimes.
  2. Why are we always afraid to question/critique/offer commentary?
  3. Continuing on, why do we silence ourselves? We all offer so many interesting perspectives so why shouldn't we share them?
  4. Sharing our stories and opinions that are informed by our pasts is oven vulnerable. Embrace it.
  5. There's always a bias, even when you can't see it.
  6. We are all blinded by our own biases. We should look at each other and see each others' biases and help everyone rise above them.
  7. Art inspires change in every level of life and it's not going to stop time for you to look at it and think it's pretty.
  8. Process is important and process infuses yourself into the art. The longer that you spend thinking, the more you can dig up to give to the project.
  9. If it's pretty, kings will look at it. If it's not pretty, the masses will scream along with it.
  10. Art matters. We, as theatre-makers and as artists, matter.
